Iʼm so excited for this yearʼs Pride month! I hope you are, too, shí kʼéʼ dóó friends. Maybe itʼs because Pride month is also Gemini sign, but dang I just feel all kinds of ways but mostly excited for the celebrations to come. I am so excited because this yearʼs theme for Diné Pride is Nádleeh. Oh shí heart! I believe this is the first time this word has been the theme.
My organization, Wingbeat 88 will be hosting our very first Pride event in our office in downtown Kinłání later this month and we’ll be representing the hummingbird at the Diné Pride in Tségahoodzaní! Pull up on us! And a big shout out to both organizations behind these respective Pride events, they work so hard every year to celebrate Pride, so ahéʼhéé nitsaago Navajo Nation Pride and Northern Arizona Pride Association. And a big shout out to small towns like Winslow and Gallup and Indigenous nations like Zuni for holding their own Pride celebrations, that is hecka heartening to see and melts me!
That is what building looks like and I am HERE for it.

Thank you Creator for making us nádleeh/dilbaa, I’m so grateful we are here at same time/space to witness our glitter, our shine after the world’s ending, we are STILL HERE.

Because you made that pot of coffee for that gathering of relatives, because you are rasing babies, because you do the labor of beating your face to go to a job, because you volunteer on your days off to organize. Because of you someone feels safer and freer to be themselves. Yeígo, girl. You. GO. GIRL.
